- Biography/History:
- Charles C. Price graduated from Swarthmore College in 1934 and received his M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University. He taught at the University of Illinois from 1936 to 1946 and at the University of Notre Dame from 1946 to 1954. He was appointed chairman of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania in 1954. From 1958 to 1962, he served on the American Association for the United Nations. His other experiences include chairman of Faculty Senate of the University of Pennsylvania (1968-1969), president of the United World Federalists, president of the American Chemical Society, and chairman of Trustees of Swarthmore College. He was conferred an honorary degree of Doctor of Science in 1983.

- Charles Price recalled how he accepted the appointment at the University of Pennsylvania in 1954, gave his opinion of President Gaylord Harnwell and his faculty colleagues, discussed the faculty-student relationship in those days, and reviewed all memorable experiences related to the University, such as the students' agitation against the Vietnam War in the sixties, the establishment of the University Science Center, the secret military research undertaken by the University, etc. In addition, he recalled his experience with the United World Federalists, his visit to Moscow, and his service as president of the American Chemical Society.
