Summary:
This book treats six thinkers from two traditions in three ways, all to make one simple point: that language is oriented to freedom as inherently as it is to truth. I will argue, in fact, that freedom and truth are not only separate values served by speech, by that they are complementary; that language becomes, in certain senses, intrinsically emancipatory when truth claims are not made, and vice versa.
