"Translated by L. Andro [psued.] from Beyle's "Vies de Haydn, de Mozart et de Métsastase", the 1st edition of which was published in 1814, under the pseudonym L. A. C. Bombel, as "Lettres sur le célèbre compositeur Joseph Haydn [etc.]" The "Nachwort" ("Stendhal und die musik") by Romain Rolland, is a translation, by O. Grautoff, of the freface of D. Muller's edition of the "Vies", Paris, 1914.
