Summary:
Goodwill Industries International (GII) is an international nonprofit organization that offers programs and career services to help people thrive. Since 2014, minimum wage increases in several states have been putting downward pressure on gross profit margins, affecting the organization's ability to fund mission-related services and operating costs to support its mission. In response to rising wages and an increasingly automated economy, Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest (GIIN) has introduced artificial intelligence (AI) into its business model. In this case study, students learn about GIIN and how the organization is using an AI listing tool to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
