Summary:
-- publisher's website.
This collective volume examines the political emergence of Javier Milei within the longer historical trajectory of neoliberalism and authoritarianism in Argentina. Framed from a justicialist perspective, the contributors analyze Milei’s discourse, leadership style, economic program, and electoral appeal, situating them in relation to earlier neoliberal experiments, military regimes, and regional right-wing movements such as Bolsonaro’s Brazil. The essays address themes including the ideological construction of “the Economist” as political actor, the relationship between market fundamentalism and state violence, judicial strategies, radical right mobilization, media narratives, and public opinion. By “historicizing” Milei, the book argues that his project represents not a novelty but the reappearance of long-standing economic and political doctrines that have previously reshaped Argentine society with profound social consequences.
