Reviews Congressional response to criticisms of operation and scope of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) of 1977, which requires corporations to maintain accurate books, records, and accounts; insists SEC issuers maintain a responsible internal accounting system; and prohibits bribery of foreign officials by American corporations. Identifies changes to FCPA under Title V of the Omnibus Trade and Competitiveness Act of 1988, and summarizes legislative proposals in the 111th Congress to address various criticisms of FCPA, including proposals to bar businesses convicted of violating FCPA from receiving Federal Government contracts. Addresses increased executive oversight of suspected businesses for alleged violations of FCPA
