Originally published in 1684 in single-sheet format, with music, as "The old man's wish". It was subsequently expanded with parallel passages from Latin, Italian and Dutch authors, with translations and annotations.
Also issued as part of his 'Thyrsis & Chloe'.
The second part contains the third edition of Bourne's translation of Rowe's 'Colin's complaint', with the English text, and having a separate titlepage bearing the imprint "Sumptibus B. Barker, apud quem prostant; & apud J. Roberts, 1726"; pp. [15]-19 contain "In obitum Roussæi", 1726.
The second part was apparently also issued separately.
