A serio-comic apology for part of the life of Mr. Theophilus Cibber, comedian. [electronic resource] : Written by himself, in which is contain'ed, a prologue, an epilogue, and a poem, wrote on the paly of Romeo and Juliet being first revived in 1744; also some addresses to the publick, on different occasions; likewise, original letters that passed between the Late Sir Thomas de Veil, and Mr. Theo. Cibber, (relating to the state act) on a stop being put to the playing at the Hay-Market. Interspersed with emoirs and anecdotes concerning the state-management and theatrical revolutions, in the years 1744, 1745, and 1746, &c. and cursory observations on some principal performers; particularly Mr. Quin, Mr. Ryan, Mr. Delane, Mrs. Woffington, Mr. Sherridan, Mrs. Ward, and Miss Bellamy; Mr. Garrick, Mr. Barry, Mr. Macklin, Mrs. Cibber, Mrs. Clive, Mrs. Pritchard, and others. Concluding with a copy of verses, call'd, the contrite comedian's confession.
