- Summary:
- This case study explores the emerging relationship between climate change and strain-aggression behavior through a biosocial criminological lens. This qualitative case study presents an innovative and human-centered approach to understanding how climate change, as a biosocial stressor, influences human aggression and criminal behavior. My published dissertation, Biosocial Criminology: Projected Criminal Behaviors Induced by Climate Changes (Brown, 2024) explores the convergence of biosocial criminology, trauma psychology, and climate science to investigate how environmental strains correlate with heightened aggression and deviance in marginalized populations. Drawing on my own lived experience as a military veteran, researcher, and spiritualist, I employed psychosocial, trauma-informed methodologies, and adaptive data collection techniques to surface deeper emotional and behavioral patterns shaped by ecological disruption. By integrating narrative inquiry with biosocial theory, this case illuminates the complex, nonlinear pathways through which extreme environmental stressors interact with hormonal dysregulation, displacement, and social fragmentation to trigger strain-aggression responses. The methodological framework challenges conventional definitions of criminality and emphasizes ethical responsibilities of researchers to document, empathize, and create meaning with vulnerable populations. This case will benefit postgraduate researchers and professionals in criminology, psychology, and environmental justice offering replicable yet evolving methodologies that places human dignity and biosocial complexity at its core.
