Summary:
This project explored whether honors and nonhonors students differed in their resiliency. This was based on a previous undergraduate project that investigated resiliency among honors students, but in that project, the author noted the limitations of the selected resiliency scale. As such, the authors sought to measure resiliency among these two student types using a valid and commonly implemented resiliency scale to determine whether differences would exist. In this case, we discuss our research design along with potential limitations. One limitation we discuss is participant recruitment, particularly convenience sampling. Additionally, we also consider the practicalities of collecting demographic data via self-reporting versus obtaining educational records. Finally, we review different types of resiliency scales for researchers to consider for future studies.
