Summary:

This dataset is designed to introduce researchers to a way of analysing and discussing 'found' online images—that is, images that have been shared on social media rather than generated for or through the research itself. The data are provided by Dr Anna Wilson from the University of Stirling's Faculty of Social Sciences. They are images that were posted on Twitter in 2014/2015 with one of the hashtags #PedagooFriday or #WeMidwives. The example analysis in the Student Guide focuses on two particular images in order to illustrate how a researcher might read and understand them. This dataset will be particularly interesting to research students and early career researchers who are thinking about researching with images they have found online, but it should also appeal to those thinking about their own reactions to images used in their research. The dataset files are accompanied by a teaching guide and a student guide.
