Summary:
This How-to Guide offers small sample sizes as an intervention to researching suicide inequalities in the time of quantification. I begin by outlining the status quo of suicide research and implications for researching suicide inequalities in ways that privilege quantification. I suggest that attempts to include marginalized populations into existing knowledge on suicide and prevention disrespect the wealth of evidence already in circulation, maintaining suicide inequalities. Drawing on a feminist politics of refusal, I end by considering what kind of suicide research becomes possible when valuing small samples.
