- This data compilation is appropriate for instruction in graduate-level courses on qualitative research methods, inclusive of applied case study methodology. The data were collected in 2023 from a public alternative high school in California, focusing on the entire population of high school seniors with high-incidence disabilities who were on track to graduate by the end of the school year. Data sources include semistructured interview transcripts, structured classroom observation protocols, and educational documents BASC-3 behavior rating scales.Students using this dataset will learn how to conduct a qualitative case study, manage and triangulate multiple data sources, and apply thematic analysis in an educational context. Uri Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory (Bronfenbrenner, 1994) and Kathleen Rudasill’s Systems View of School Climate (SVSC) (Rudasill et al., 2018) frame the analysis, allowing students to explore how school ecology influence student self-efficacy and persistence.This material is beneficial for developing skills in coding, conceptual framing, and working with real-world school-based data. No specialized software is required.The dataset offers instructional value for students learning how to interpret, code, and synthesize complex educational data.
