Summary:
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are one of the most researched groups in the world. Many western research practices have left a legacy of damage and mistrust within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. As such, there have been increasing calls for scholars to decolonize research processes, with the bulk of work occurring within research design and methodology. The literature review, an integral component of research, is often overlooked. This guide will provide Indigenous and non-Indigenous scholars with an alternative to the traditional literature review, utilizing the Aboriginal concept of relationality, and by doing so will contribute to the decolonization of research by privileging Aboriginal ways of knowing, being, and doing.
