- This case study explores how inclusivity was methodically embedded throughout a doctoral research project investigating awareness, acceptance, socio-economic stress, and expectations among parents of children with cerebral palsy (CP) in Gujarat, India. A key element of the initial study was the development and validation of a Gujarati questionnaire that would be culturally relevant and could record complex parental experiences of raising a child with CP and receiving physiotherapy services for them. The methodological and ethical dimensions highlighting inclusive strategies such as purposive sampling across diverse geographic and socio-economic settings, culturally sensitive tool design, multilingual and adaptive data collection, and participant-centered accommodations addressing literacy and emotional needs are highlighted. The study also addressed how practical challenges such as stigma, caregiver fatigue, and emotional distress were navigated using empathetic approaches and real-time methodological adaptations. This case study provides useful insights for researchers, health professionals, and ethics reviewers by demonstrating a replicable model for enhancing cultural responsiveness and equity in research with vulnerable populations. Readers will learn how to tailor tools and processes to enhance equity, cultural responsiveness, and ethical rigor in diverse research settings.
