- This case study reflects on important methodological aspects of an investigation that attempted to trace any evidence of cultural convergence on the internet. For the purpose of examining the phenomena holistically, a massive dataset was first obtained by a web crawler from a designated website. Then, sentiment analyses were conducted. Benefits and drawbacks for undertaking this approach are discussed. A number of key challenges surrounding the use of the software and conceptualization of cultural convergence in the web sphere were highlighted and addressed.
