Summary:

The aim of this study guide is to introduce readers to research design concepts relevant to qualitative data, such as inductive and deductive analysis using Saldaña’s Code-to-Theory Model to implement reflexivity, identify initial codes, implement descriptive codes, identify themes using rigorous iterative analysis, observations, field notes, triangulation, and member checking, in a North American context. This exemplar was designed to summarize findings from an Action Research Study compiled of United States of America Air Force chaplains on how they balance the duality they face in their commitment to serve others and the pressure to get promoted (serve self) in a hierarchical, competitive, organizational military environment. This study will expose readers to the research design concepts mentioned and contributing to the body of knowledge on how U.S. Air Force chaplains navigate a plural, inclusive environments composed of the newly discovered False Narrative and The Great Divide, providing actionable knowledge that assists Air Force chaplains in fulfilling their responsibilities, with more experienced chaplains offering insights to new, junior chaplains. The dataset file is accompanied by a Teaching Guide, a Student Guide, and a How-to Guide.
