Summary:
Youth voices are underrepresented in academic publishing. This guide examines the rationale and significance of cowriting with youth, highlighting both associated challenges and benefits. Informed by my own collaborative journey of cowriting a research report with youth affected by sexual violence and trafficking, the guide offers practical insights and key lessons from the process. Although focused on intergenerational coauthorship within child sexual violence research, the ethical and practical approaches outlined are broadly applicable to collaborative writing with vulnerable and marginalized groups.
