Summary:
The World Café method has emerged as a valuable qualitative approach for engaging diverse groups in open, respectful, and meaningful dialogue. It is particularly suited for exploring ethically sensitive issues that intersect cultural and religious values. In this study, the method was applied in a multinational context to investigate perspectives on body donation, a practice shaped by diverse beliefs regarding death, dying, and the treatment of the deceased. Stakeholders from various nationalities, cultures, and religions were purposively selected to ensure broad representation. To promote open discussion and minimize conflict, participants were initially grouped according to shared ethnic or religious backgrounds. They then rotated across discussion tables, each addressing a distinct theme, while a moderator guided dialogue and a scribe documented insights. This structured yet flexible format encouraged the sharing of perspectives, recognition of differences, and identification of commonalities across groups. The data generated were consolidated through an iterative process and later presented in a policy forum, ensuring that insights were contextualized for potential translation into practice. This Case Study will be useful for researchers, educators, and policymakers working with culturally and religiously diverse populations, particularly when addressing ethically sensitive issues in medical education or health-related fields. Readers will learn practical strategies for structuring discussions, managing group dynamics, and refining data for policy relevance. By applying these lessons, researchers can adapt the World Café method to their own contexts, ensuring that sensitive topics are explored inclusively, respectfully, and with methodologic rigor.
