- Summary:
- The research reviewed in this case study concerns “Work-life balance and employee well-being: The moderating effect of employee engagement among millennials in front-line service companies.” The high level of unemployment in developing nations lures the Millennial to seek frontline jobs in service-oriented organizations. Frontline jobs involve the direct provision of services to customers, through face-to-face contact. Millennials are those born between 1981 and 1996, who are between 29–43 years old in 2025. They make up a large portion of the frontline workforce in Nigeria, because they can withstand the stress of working longer hours, though paid low. The demanding nature of their work prompted research on their psychological well-being, focusing on the predictive roles of work-life balance and work engagement. It is believed that effective management of the Millennials on the job would result in better work performance and productivity. The study explores the connectedness among the variables studied. The methodological challenge in accessing participants informed the use of hybrid method of data collection, where a Google form containing the research instrument was administered online, using social media, and a hard copy of the questionnaire was administered physically to the participants who did not have internet access. Hierarchical regression and moderation analysis were used for data analysis. Knowledge gain is expected for advanced undergraduate students involved in research, in terms of using hybrid data collection research methods among participants that are difficult to reach.
