The extensive destruction of Christian populations in the Pontus during the first two decades of the twentieth century shocked Catholic missionaries in the region. They documented the genocide of the Christian populations of the Ottoman Empire in their reports to Rome, and their eyewitness testimonies are preserved among the archives of the Roman Catholic Church. Theodosios Ar. Kyriakidis original Greek work, published in 2015 to mark the anniversary of the massacre and extermination of hundreds of Greeks in the Pontus, is now translated into English by Nikos G. Nikoloudis, illuminating the inner workings of this dark episode in modern history.
