- Summary:
- "For most of his literary career, Isaac Bashevis Singer prioritized publishing translations only of the that appeared during and after 1943. There were three exceptions. His first novel, Satan in Goray, "The Old Man," a story published in 1932 in Globus, and another story, "The Jew from Babylon," published in 1933 in Globus. In all three cases, Singer chose works that could be easily identified as early examples of the kind of storytelling mastery he developed in later years. Yet these choices left out the bulk of the writing he did while building the foundations of this mastery-stories, interviews, and essays that he largely elided from his literary corpus. This volume fills in some of the gaps that he purposefully left in place, giving readers access to the early building blocks of his literary career"-- Provided by publisher
