Whereas this Association did on the 11th. day of December, 1792, make a declaration to use every legal means to preserve the present happy constitution as by law established, against the wicked designs of republicans and levellers : at this crisis, resolve, not only to oppose every hostile attack of a foreign power, but to exert themselves for the defence of this town ... it is is proposed to raise a volunteer corps, consisting of the reputable and legal inhabitants within this town and neighbourhood.
