At Edinburgh the twenty third day of April, one thousand seven hundred and twenty nine years : the which day, the Lord Provost, Baillies, Council, and Deacons of Crafts, Ordinary and Extraordinary, having taken into their consideration, that by the laws of the land, and by the rights and infeftments granted in favours of this city, 'tis unlawful to, or for any person to use, exercise, or occupy any branch of trade or craft within this city or liberties, except such as are burgesses and freemen thereof.
