Sir, whereas several malicious, scandalous, and false reports have been raised, and also papers and advertisements printed and dispers'd about this ward, in order to prejudice your present Common-Counil men in their several elections on St. Thomas's Day next : you are therefore desired to favour with your interest (and poll if needful) the following persons, viz. Benjamin Tomlinson, deputy, John Bateman, John Gordon, Richard Truby, John Townesend, William Knight, William Innys, Edward Woodward, Christopher Bateman, who are persons well affected to our present happy establishment, and shall (as they have always hitherto done) endeavour to serve this ward in all things to the utmost of their power.
