Catalogue of part of the library of books, collection of prints and drawings, books of prints, manuscripts, &c. of Thomas May, Esq., and the collection of prints of a gentleman, late a member of the Antiquarian Society : among them will be found a number of curious and rare articles, viz. Ashmole's Order of the Garter, plates by Hollar, Chronicle of Briteyn, b.l. 1568, Dugdale's Origines, portraits by Hollar, Morant's Essex, 2 vol., large paper, and several other English County Books, Johnson's Lives of the highwaymen, with the portraits, Chapman's Homer, portrait, Sir W. Leighton's Musical ayres and songs, 1614, Mace's Musicks monument, fine portrait by Faithorne ... A number of scarce English, &c. portraits, by Vandyke, (Vanden Enden impressions, some proofs) Houbraken, large paper, Visscher, Hollar, Payne, Gaywood, Picart, Faithorne, Loggan, Vertue, Marshall, Glover, &c.---The drawings are by Cipriani, (the Boar hunt by Rubens) Sandby, &c. Several of the prints published by the Antiquarian Society, all first impressions.
