To the Honourable the knights, citizens, and burgesses of Great Britain, in Parliament assembled : reasons for rectifying an error in the standard of our coins : by which error Great Britain, Ireland, and all His Majesty's subjects, have lost inconceivable treasure, and many thousand fair traders become bankrupts; to the lessening of publikc revenues, and great increase of taxes; the discouragement of our coinage, and the distress of all His Majesty's subjects : as also, for bringing a bill effectually to encourage the coinage of British money of the true standard, which will be a loss to any body to melt or export; and for making His Majesty's mints the best market for gold and silver, as they ought always to be, though hitherto the very worst.
