Notes:
To date, no bibliography has been compiled detailing the newspaper and magazine news, and more importantly, the articles related to science and technology published in the Early Turkish Press, nor has a comprehensive anthology been created compiling the most important of these articles. However, without reliable bibliographies and anthologies, it is impossible to have a solid understanding of the history of the public dissemination of science and, by using this understanding, to comprehend the scientific interactions between academia and the public. In this anthology, "The Perception of Science in the Early Turkish Press," we aim to fill this gap to some extent and inform readers about the early stages of "Scientific Thought" as reflected in the press, through 20 distinguished articles written by Mehmed Said, Namık Kemal, Ziya Paşa, Ebüzziya Tevfik, Kandiyeli Nusret Hilmi, Şerefeddin Mağmûmî, Salih Zeki, Ahmed Şuayb, Osman Nuri, Cenab Şahabeddin, Ufalı Toktamış, Mehmed İzzet, Hüseyin Avni, and Necmeddin Sadık, who lived between the Late Ottoman and Early Republican periods.
