- In 1835 Paris, notorious libertine Ryno de Marigny (Fu'ad Aït Aattou) is set to marry virtuous aristocrat Hermangarde (Roxane Mesquida), but first he must end his decade-long affair with his possessive mistress of Malagan birth, La Vellini (Asia Argento). When rumors reach Hermangarde's grandmother, the Marquise de Flers (Claude Sarraute), she demands Ryno confess the full story of his passionate relationship with the scandalous courtesan. As Ryno recounts their tempestuous history, it becomes clear that Vellini may not accept being cast aside.
