What do you call the masses of space rocks floating in outer space that are smaller than planets and even smaller than our moon? These are called asteroids, the small airless rocky masses that also orbit the sun. They are too small to be called planets that’s why sometimes asteroids are also referred to as planetoids or minor planets.
