Correspondence, Original - Secretary of State: Offices and Individuals. Letters from various government offices (departments), other organisations and individuals most of which relate to the despatches sent from the governor in CO 123/72. Correspondents and subjects covered are as follows: Offices: Board of Trade (duties and taxes act should be disallowed); Foreign Office (territorial limits claimed by the King of Mosquito; Mr Blondell's report on Belgian colony of St Thomas in Guatemala; memorandum drawn up by Colonel Hodgson in 1766 referring to the Mosquito shore; education of sons of King of Mosquito); Land Board (sale of crown lands; mahogany); Reverend Angus, Baptist Mission (objections to practice of the courts as to oaths and enforcement of). Individuals: Mrs Carmichael (application for pecuniary assistance); Lord Elgin (Colonel Fancourt's application for a change of government); A Henderson (memorial praying for the removal of penalties from dissenters refusing to make oaths); Hyde, Hodge, and others (memorial against increasing expenditure in the settlement); Sir R Price (Symons' dismissal from office of clerk of courts); W Stonehewer (requests information about Mosquito shore); Symons (refers to his suspension from office of clerk of the courts and keeper of records; memorial for re-instatement; explanation of charges; testimonials); H D Warter (enquires if Reverend Lewthwaite has left any property to pay his college debts).
