- The case of Reverend Samuel Power, a Roman Catholic Priest, concerning his treatment in 1830 and 1831 by the then Acting Governor Sir Charles Felix Smith. Reverend Power complains firstly of being imprisoned in Grenada on 27 February 1830 for preaching on the Sabbath day to the slaves of his congregation; secondly of being illegally deported from Trinidad on 3 January 1831 by the command of the acting governor; and thirdly being detained for six hours on board a vessel after his return from exile on 8 August 1831, again by the command of the acting governor. Encloses a précis of the case; evidence of the investigation into Power's complaints; correspondence from Reverend Power, Lord Glenelg, Sir Charles F Smith, Governor Sir George Hill and the Treasury.
