- Description: Ground-level view of debris around Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hal; ground zero for the explosion of the atomic bomb on 6 August, 1945. The center of the atomic blast was displaced 490 feet (150 m) horizontally and 1,968 feet (600 m) vertically from the hall, which was designed by Czech architect Jan Letzel and completed in April 1915. The ruin was later named Hiroshima Peace Memorial, commonly called the Atomic Bomb Dome or A-Bomb Dome, and was made a UNECSO World Heritage site in 1996. Copy of 2012.056.048. Hiroshima, Japan.
