- Description: This series contains letters from Miller to his parents, Merritt Finley Miller and Grace Ernst Miller, and Beulah "Buty" Wilson Cooper, who was Miller's girlfriend and later wife. In the letters, Miller talks about working on a farm, school, military duties, and what he does for entertainment while in the military. Some of the letters are illustrated by Miller. The last folders contain letters written by Clay Cooper to Beulah "Buty" Wilson Cooper. Miller's locations during the war are as follows: San Francisco to Saidorâ€"March to June 1944; Morotaiâ€"September to December 1944; Morotai to Samar to Luzon to joining the Navyâ€"January to March 1945.;Correspondence, diaries, and photographs from the service of Robert Demorest Miller, who served with the 56th Fighter Control Squadron, 86th Fighter Wing, V Fighter Command, 5th Air Force ("The Flying Circus"), and later, the 5279th Airborne Fighter Control Squadron, V Fighter Command, 5th Air Force in the Pacific Theater of Operations. The collection is divided into three series: I. Personal correspondence, 1936-1944; II. Miller's Diaries, 1942-1945; and III. Photographs and negatives, 1944-1945.
