Description: This series consists of 95 pieces of personal correspondence from Lieutenant Israel "Izzy" Rogosa, to his parents, Samuel and Fannie Rogosa, Lynn, Massachusetts. The correspondence begins with Rogosa being rejected from Harvard University and enrolling in the University of Pennsylvania. In August 1942, Rogosa received his induction papers and in September he was sent to Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was then transferred to Camp Lee, Virginia, in March 1943 and remained there until July 1943. Rogosa trained at Fort Benning, Georgia and was once transferred in August, this time to Fort Belvoir, Virginia. There is no correspondence from November 1943 to February 1945. The correspondence resumes in March 1945, when Rogosa was assigned to the 1394th Engineer Construction Battalion and stationed at Guadalcanal.;Personal correspondence from the four sons of Samuel and Fannie Rogosa, three of whom were in the Armed Forces.
