Description: This series consists of two military documents from Colonel Charles Steel’s time as commander of the 31st Infantry Regiment. The documents are a unit history of the 31st Infantry Regiment and a report of operations for the II Philippine Corps written on the back of stationery from 1939.;Documents from the service of Colonel Charles Lowndes Steel, commander of the 31st Infantry Regiment from December 1941-March 1942 and the II Philippine Corps Chief of Staff during the Battle of Bataan. He was a Japanese prisoner of war from April 1942-September 1945. The collection is arranged into two series: I. Military documents, 1941-1942 and II. Prisoner of war documents, June 1945-September 1945.
