- Description: This series consists of two V-mails from Private Samuel S. Smith, to his cousins, William and Adele Stein. Pvt. Smith was assigned to the 166th General Hospital, near Le Mans, France in 1944, and was then reassigned to the Counter Intelligence Corps in the European Theater of Operations in 1945.;Personal correspondence sent to Mr. and Mrs. William Adele, from various family members. The series is arranged into five series: I. Personal correspondence from George and Kermit Calmenson, January 1943-February 1945; II. Personal correspondence from Emmitt Ruble, October 1943-December 1943; III. Personal correspondence from Bert and Milt Silverman, 1943-1945; IV.
