- William Kaenzig served in the USMC with the 4th Marine Division and took part in the battles of Kwajalein, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. At the end of the war Kaenzig held the rank of captain but had risen to the rank of lieutenant colonel by the time of his retirement.
