Summary:
John MacPhee served in the Army from 1943 to 1945. He went ashore on Omaha Beach on 6 June 1944 with Company E, 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. During the landings, he was severely wounded three times and thought for sure he was going to die. He survived and was discharged in 1945 with the rank of private first class (PFC).
