Description: Side view of half-sunken Izumo armored class cruiser. Two cruisers of this class, Izumo and Iwate, of the Imperial Japanese Navy were concentrated near the major naval base of Kure in July 1945. Both were sunk by American aircraft during the Battle of Kure. Izumo was sunk at dock on 24 July and Iwate was sunk two days later. This photo probably shows Iwate cruiser. Kure Naval Base, Kure, Japan.
