Summary:

TSgt Clifford Lord was born October 26, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His dad owned a plumbing business and stayed employed during the depression. Along with several of his friends, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1943. He completed his basic training at Camp Wheel in Georgia and was then sent to Camp Landing for communications training, where he learned Morse code. He was very intelligent and did exceptionally well in all of his training. When he completed communications training, he was assigned as a Cadre and promoted to sergeant. He trained the new recruits. As the war progressed in Europe, he was sent as a replacement. He said this was terrible because you did not fit in with any unit and were always the new guy. He was finally assigned to the 121st Regiment of the 8th Division permanently. He worked at the Headquarters Unit sending out messages in Morse code. He was at the battles of Hurtgen Forest, Aachen, and Cologne. When the war ended he was in Schwerin, Germany. He was discharged in 1946.
