- Angelo Spinato served in a mortar squad, 4th Platoon, E Company of the 394th Infantry Regiment, 99th Infantry Division. He trained at Camp Beauregard before being sent to ASTP. He went overseas and landed in the UK before entering Normandy by way of LST in the fall of 1944. He saw combat in the Battle of the Bulge at the "Twin Villages" of Rocherath and Krinkelt, made his way to Elsenborn Ridge where he saw major combat. He saw action against not only enemy infantry, but faced off against German tanks as well. At one point he was even in a house that was surrounded by tanks and shot up.
