- Captain Geneva Johnson was born June 22, 1922 in Eunice, Louisiana. Her father left the family at an early age and she was raised by her mother. She wanted to become a physical therapist and joined the Women's Army Corp (WACs) in 1944, to pursue her dream. During the war she was stationed at Beaumont General Hospital in El Paso, Texas. She provided physical therapy for soldiers who were wounded during the war. She was discharged in 1948 and returned home to Eunice, Louisiana.
