- Sascha Jansen was born and raised in Manila, Luzon, Philippines. Her grandfather was from Germany and worked for Colombia Sugar Estates in the Philippines. The family was in Germany when Germany invaded Poland. After returning to the Philippines the Japanese invaded and Jansen's family was incarcerated in the Santo Tomas Internment Camp. After they were liberated by the Americans on 3 February 1945, Jansen and her family moved to the United States.
