- Blanchard was the gunner on an M-10 Tank Destroyer; he vividly recalls the heavy American bombing before the battle of St. Lo and the house to house fighting; during this battle he recalled only seeing German infantry but no tanks; his unit fought in the Ardennes Forest and was not attacked by any German 88mm guns; he did fire on one or two German panzers; his battalion supported the 1st Army and 3rd Army.
