Summary:
Description: Sent to Mrs. Elizabeth P. Mitchell, Pomona, California from Douglas T. Metcalf, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. 'Dear Mother, This card is a picture of our class. 53 in all. They are rapidly thinning our ranks here. I can flap my wings well enough so far. Next week a new class of dodoe's come in and we will be upperclassmen. Everybody looks forward to it because they hope some someone they know will be in the new group. There's only 2 of the original 5 left that came from Spfld. [Springfield, Massachusetts]. The army is issuing us our winter flying togs now. I'll have a picture taken of them. They are really swell clothes. All rabbit lined leather. Very expensive, too. Please save this card as I might want to look it over some day. Memories! Love, Doug.'.
