Description: Aviator's Flight Log Book of Lewis Wheeler. Tracks flight training in the United States during January 1944 at Lambert Field, St. Louis, Missouri and Grosse Ile, Michigan; begins training in PBY Catalinas in May 1944 when he is transferred to Pensacola, Florida. In November 1944 he transfers to Banana River, Florida flying PBM Mariners until February 1945 when he joins Patrol Bombing Squadron 98 and travels overseas to the Pacific. Log records bombing, training and gunnery missions in the Pacific Islands. The last entry is 27 May 1945. First page is stamped with coding to Wheeler's mission on the character of flights and a Naval Aviation Swim Test stamp from February 1945.
