- Description: This series consists of 19 pieces of personal correspondence to Mrs. S. Wendell Brennecke, Walhalla, South Carolina, from members of the Armed Forces whose surnames fall in the range of A-D. The senders are: Claude Alexander, who served with the 602nd Bombardment Squadron, 398th Bombardment Group in the European Theater of Operations; John McCollough Ansel, who was assigned to the V Amphibious Corps in the Pacific Theater of Operations; Captain Neville Ansel, who was assigned to the 478th AAA Auto-Weapons Battalion in the Pacific Theater of Operations; Corporal Sidney H. Ballenger Jr., Camp Davis, North Carolina; Corporal Fred Bischoff, who was with the 1303 Road Engineers in the European Theater of Operations; Seaman First Class George Brown, who served on the USS Manlove (DE-36) in the Pacific Theater of Operations; Aviation Machinist’s Mate Third Class J. Sid Cobb, who served on the USS Bennington (CV-20) in the Pacific Theater of Operations; Corporal Thomas Dempsey who was assigned to the 34th Field Hospital in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations; and Hospital Assistant A. A. Duke, who served with the United States Navy in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations.;Letters, V-mails, and postcards sent to Mrs. S.
