Description: This series consists of 47 letters to George and Thelma Slater. The bulk of the collection is from their son, Lieutenant Hugh Slater; however, there is one letter from Lt. Slater’s friend, Private Don Potts, and one letter from Chaplin Jule Ayers. During 1943, Lt. Slater was stationed at Ajo Gunnery Base, Arizona; Luke Field, Arizona; New Orleans Staging Area, Louisiana; and Ponce Bay, Puerto Rico.
