Description: Letter/journal from the service of Lt. Commander Horace P. Norman. Norman wrote the letter without ever sending it, essentially serving as a journal or diary from 8 Sep 1942 went he left San Francisco and the United States through 31 Jan 1943. As it was never mailed, it was also never censored so place names remain intact. He gave it to his wife, Alamay Hamilton Norman, after returning home. Norman served aboard the troop transport USS Maui (ID-1514) as well as the MS Bloemfontein, where he enjoyed the cooking of the Indonesian staff.
